Chacarra Wins in India to Lead Europe's 2027 Ryder Cup Points Race

Players Mentioned

Eugenio Chacarra's two-stroke victory at the DP World India Championship on October 18 put him at the top of Europe's 2027 Ryder Cup Points List. The Spaniard closed with 70 at Delhi Golf Club to finish at 21 under, beating Daniel Hillier and collecting his third DP World Tour title of the season.

The result also moved him into the Race to Dubai lead. Those two achievements carry different consequences: one concerns the tour's season-long championship, while the other advances his bid for a first Ryder Cup appearance at Adare Manor.

A long Sunday and a shrinking lead

Weather disruption left Chacarra with 25 holes to complete on the final day. He finished his third round with a 63, then began the fourth round five strokes ahead. The DP World Tour's result report describes how that advantage grew to six before Hillier's late challenge.

Hillier finished at 19 under. Chacarra protected his remaining lead with a recovery and par at the 16th, followed by pars at the last two holes. The Indian Express records his 267 total and the two-shot winning margin.

What changed in the Ryder Cup standings?

Ryder Cup Europe's October 19 report puts Chacarra on 555.75 points in the October 18 standings, up from 305.75 before India. His 250-point gain moved him from fourth to first, 161.44 points ahead of Meronk.

Golf Planète's account also places Chacarra first and Meronk second. Joe Dean, Hidalgo, Matt Fitzpatrick and Shane Lowry complete the top six in that dated release. The full table is on our qualification tracker.

Chacarra had already won the KLM Open and Italian Open in June. Those victories established his season's form; India adds a win inside the European Ryder Cup qualifying window, which began on August 27.

Two points lists, two different races

India awarded Chacarra 835 Race to Dubai points. His Ryder Cup gain was 250. The figures belong to separate systems and should not be added together or substituted for one another.

His Ryder Cup position is provisional. Europe's six automatic places are decided when qualification closes on August 22, 2027, with Luke Donald choosing six more players. Chacarra has said his ambition is to earn one of the automatic places.

What Donald can take from Delhi

The final round adds evidence about Chacarra's ability to protect a lead when an opponent is closing. His short game kept the title within reach even after the margin narrowed, and a third win makes his season's success harder to dismiss as an isolated week.

For team selection, the next question is whether he can sustain that level through the rest of qualification. Partnerships and the balance of the twelve-player squad will matter alongside the final points order. Our European team watch follows those selection questions.
