Jon Rahm's LIV Exit Agreement: Court Date, Abu Dhabi Return and Ryder Cup Outlook

RyderCupPlayers.com Staff•October 16, 2026•Updated: October 16, 2026•2 min read

Rahm has reached a proposed separation agreement with LIV, with court approval still pending on November 5. His next announced start is Abu Dhabi on November 5–8.

Players Mentioned

Jon Rahm has reached a proposed separation agreement with LIV Golf, but court approval remains a step ahead. Reports published on October 15 describe an agreement due before Judge Michael B. Kaplan in New Jersey on November 5. Rahm has also committed to the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links on November 5–8.

The distinction matters for his playing future. Reaching an agreement with LIV and obtaining admission to another tour are different decisions. Neither announces a place on Europe's 2027 Ryder Cup team.

What changed after Rahm rejected LIV 2.0?

Rahm's attorney John Beck told the October 7 bankruptcy hearing that Rahm would not take part in the proposed new version of LIV. GOLF's hearing report described separation discussions at that stage. EFE's account also reported his decision through the statements made by his lawyer.

Golf Digest's October 15 report describes the proposed settlement. GOLF's account of the terms says it becomes final if approved at the November 5 hearing.

Rahm's next announced tournament

The Emirates News Agency announcement names Rahm in the Abu Dhabi field and gives November 5–8 as the tournament dates. The National's report places the start at Yas Links in the penultimate event of the DP World Tour season.

Does leaving LIV guarantee a PGA Tour return?

No return date has been established by the developments described here. A settlement over an existing contract does not itself provide a PGA Tour membership decision, an exemption into a particular tournament or a confirmed schedule.

What it means for the 2027 Ryder Cup

Europe's membership rules have become more significant following the October 12 DP World Tour position on LIV participation in 2027. Rahm's stated intention to leave removes one obvious conflict over his preferred schedule, but future membership and selection still need to be considered on their own terms.

His tournament programme and results will give Donald evidence of form and potential partnerships as the qualifying season progresses.
